Arco Iris Somos believes that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating place to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Arco Iris strives to help children achieve their full potential in each of these areas. The Arco Iris Interdisciplinary Thematic Curriculum borrows liberally from Steiner, Montessori, Malaguzzi, Dewey, and Garner with the aim of reaching each child's mode of absorbing and processing the Spanish language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
The Arco Iris Interdisciplinary Thematic Curriculum, which was created by Sra. Lupe and her senior staff, is the result of years of experience, study, and reflection on best practices to reach children of this age and development. Themes - such as, animals, fruits, or seasons - are presented through storytelling, song, games, art, nature, simple mathematics and science, cooking, and play. As children listen and speak while making their way through the various disciplines, their vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension deepen dramatically as the knowledge is absorbed and reinforced through their five senses.
